Good detectives know where to look...
Here it is kids! You're first clue! Remember hunting is ONLY allowed after school. If a teacher reports your team is hunting during school, you will be disqualified from the game.
Your first clue deals with the "where" of the story.
Figure out the setting in the room where you learn about maps. Ask the clue master for your assignment. It is also found on the clue itself! Complete and have it signed ad dated on your sign-in sheet.
Don't forget to say cheese!

Happiest moment so far...
Parents and students,
Words cannot express how proud I am to call you your ELA teacher. We have come from 9th place in our 1st IA to 3rd place out of 14 schools this IA in Reading!
I express my gratitude for working harder than I could have hoped. I know that I push you to get you to THIS moment. My homework and my hard work is for you to achieve what you have achieved. Students I provided you the map but you found your destination: the top.
I know that you are the best, and you are MY best. I am overwhelmed and excited to see where the STAAR and IA4 takes us and I have more than enough confidence to say we can make it to FIRST in the district!
Now, like I've told you in class, just because we are at this amazing point in our year does not mean we are taking a break or slowing down. We need to go harder and push ourselves further than we ever though possible. This isn't time to press the brakes; it is time to pump the gas!
Parents, thank you for being patient with my assignments. You are the co-conductor of this amazing district-topping machine so BRAVO to you! You should be extremely proud of your child's accomplishments. I ask that you keep supporting me in my efforts to get these kids on top. I know that with both sets of hands, these kids will have more than enough support needed to ROCK THE STAAR!
To my favorite CHAMPION CHARGERS, many hugs.
Miss G

OER HELP...
Today we celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday in style by reading "The Sneetches." Your homework is to complete an OER on a separate sheet of paper. Your OER should not exceed 10 lines.
Your prompt is the following:
What is the theme of Dr. Seuss' "The Sneetches"?
Here is the rubric...
O sentence |
E sentence |
R sentence |
Follow the checklist and have your parents check your peer column. Study this rubric and be ready for your IA on MONDAY!
Kids, I know that you all are super smart. If YOU were a sneetch, I could honestly preach that as a sneetch, you'd be the best on the beach.
So, just try your hardest and know you're the smartest. I BELIEVE IN YOU!

Incredibly WEIRD Word of the Day...
Hey kiddos!
As I was looking for the word of the day, I found that today's word is one of MY FAVORITE words EVER!
Here are the rules:
The first 5 people in each homeroom to use the word CORRECTLY in a sentence will receive CHARGER POINTS.
Your sentence has to let me know that you KNOW the MEANING of the word. For example if the word was dubious, you couldn't use a sentence like "She is dubious" or "That was dubious". A correct sentence that is CHARGER-worthy would be: "The shady qualifications of the candidate made him a dubious choice for president." Here the word SHADY acts like a SYNONYM or DEFINITION context clue. You know that DUBIOUS most likely means unreliable.
Without further ado, the word of the day is... drum roll please...
TCHOTCHKE :)
I can't wait to hear your sentences tomorrow!
Good luck my wonderfully whimsical weirdos!
Miss G
*extra bonus points for the first person in each homeroom to tell me what form of figurative language I have used in this post. You need to identify it and label it.
Currently listening to...
While you guys are quizzing... I am loving the sounds of F^3 (F cubed). Ch-ch-check out their title track titled "Figurative Language."
