Students and Parents:
While this may have been done a little late, I hope to clear up some questions about the Embedded Assessment for Unit 5.
We are using a text book named Springboard, which is published by College Board. It is a comprehensive workbook aligned with the TEKS and College Readiness Standards. It is writing heavy and gives students opportunities to read different genres.
Unit 5 is all about drama and performance. The embedded assessment assignment is the following: SWBAT transform Scene 3 from Washington Irving's Rip Van Winkle into a modern setting. They were placed into groups of 5 or 6 and for 2 weeks they have been transforming the scene and writing their own script.
I do wish I could give them all of the class period to work on this, but we have to teach mini-lessons aligned with the STAAR to get them prepared for their APRIL 24 date. This is why I have asked them to meet after school or during the weekends, when possible, to make sure they are getting the time needed for practice. Because this has taken longer than anticipated, I have moved up their due date to MARCH 8.
Here are pictures of the rubric to help you understand what will be graded:
I hope this clears things up about this particular project. Students will be graded as a group AND individually. Individually, students will be turning in either actor's packets or director's packets. More information can be found on page 364 of their Springboard. Please encourage your children to meet with their groups this weekend and the following week after school to get an EXEMPLARY rating.
Please call or email with any clarifying questions needed.
Thank you to the electric Chargers and their dedicated parents,
